1980 Ford Escort RS2000. This is a RHD Import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. the UK reg has been applied for. Its a genuine RS2000 and the shell is mint. Its starts runs and drives but will need a bit improving. Way better in my opinion, than welding up a rotter.

Body - SA Spec RS2000. Same strengthening as UK cars, speedo cable bracket on floor, tramp bar brackets. they dont have the spare wheel bracket in boot like a UK car. This has has all been cleaned back underneath and painted. No underseal, no stonechip just cleaned and painted. You can see everything and overall its really solid with no evidence of repairs. The chassis legs have the usual jacking marks on them but in the main underneath is as good as they come. Paintwork is tidy enough. Its not a concours car but perfectly useable. Paint chip on nosecone where it meets the bonnet. rear arch lips have been trimmed back. good panel gaps. Decent looking old car for the price.

Mechanics - 2.0 pinto with correct Rs sump, mounts, bellhousing. 4 speed box, SA spec Borg Warner rear axle with anti roll bar rather than tramp bars, which is correct for an SA car. Car starts and runs and drives. Gearstick is falling out, which we will have alook at, bonnet cable snapped but an new one is due to arrive, exhaust blowing at downpipe join but again a new gasket has been ordered. The car will need a good checkover from front to back and will need a bit tinkering. Carb may need adjusted for our climate. Rear leaf springs need changing as look to have been messed with to lower it

Interior - Again its the SA spec interior with roll tops, clock and pod. ive checked behind the Pod and the dash is as it should be and not cut. it has the RS dash with km speedo rather than mph but easy change. Good Rs doorcards, white headlining. Would benefit from a set of betacloth seatcovers.

Wheels - It had steels when it arrived but we put these on. They are diamond cut Laser Alloys with new 185/60/13 tyres.

Overall a very solid car and a genuine RS. It could do with a bit updating but way cheaper to bring this car up to standard than welding and painting somne old swamp donkey that needs almost every panel replacing.
